See the Available Now page for photos of all the sorts we have for sale, including the two novelties, Len Harrod and Renown.
Len Harrod is an exhibitor’s pea, but not a difficult one, in a bright orangey colour on the pink side of red. It has plenty of white eye to save the colour from being overpowering. In shape it often puts me in mind of the idealised pictures that used to adorn the seed catalogues of the 1940s, having a broad, round standard and matching wavy wings.
Renown you’ll have seen on our news page, and now you can grow it. The rich texture
seems to ignore the threat of rain-
Gardeena: For a few years we have been growing some branchy seedlings that have masses
of medium-
Roubeena’s ruby red looks great alongside salmon cream pink Eveleena and coral red Coraleena. For the perfect white companion please get Brook Hall from Roger Parsons until we build up our stocks again, and you’ll have a quartet to recommend for garden decoration anywhere!
Quality and Price:
All the seed is graded here, and we only sell seed that’s a fair size for the variety. Germination testing is carried out on every seed batch, with a minimum pass level of 90%. Since we make up packets to customers’ requirements, we charge 15 cent or 10 pence per seed, rather than quoting prices per packet.
Ordering:
It’s easy. You can send your order directly from this web-
Alternatively, send a letter to Cooltonagh, 183 Glenshane Road, The Cross, Co. Londonderry, BT47 3EN, Northern Ireland, saying which varieties you want and how many seed of each. It will be helpful to include a ‘phone number, just in case a variety is sold out. For a postal order form you can print out, click here.
Either way, we’ll reply, telling you how much money to send: for postage and packing we’ll charge £1.00 or €1.50, beyond these islands we’ll charge at cost. When we get your cheque or postal money order, we’ll post your seed.
Cultural Advice:
New customers should receive two pages of cultural advice with their first consignment of seed. The same document can be printed from this link.
We do not attempt to say anything about culture on the cordon system, thinking it better for new growers to learn from experienced exhibitors who are able to pass on advice that takes account of local climate and dates of shows.
